A Message from the Superintendent

To the ARRSD Community,

Now in my fifth year as Superintendent of the Athol-Royalston Regional School District, I remain incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve this district and proud to be part of this community. I am truly thrilled about the 2026–2027 school year and where we are headed together.

This is an exciting time for ARRSD. Our new 2026–2029 Strategic Plan, guided by our Vision of a Graduate—the North Star for our work— gives us a clear direction and a shared understanding of what we want for every student. I am proud of the work that went into developing both and excited to see that work come to life in our classrooms, schools, and community.

One of the best parts of my job is spending time in our schools and seeing firsthand the amazing things our students and staff do every day. I want our families and community to see more of those moments, too. This year, I am making a concerted effort to capture and share more of the great things happening throughout ARRSD. I hope you will follow me on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok and join me in celebrating our students, staff, and schools.

Outside of ARRSD, I am incredibly fortunate to have a wonderful family. My wife, Anne (married 24 years in December), and I are the proud parents of three children. Our oldest, Ava [22 in January], is a senior at UMass Amherst; William [20 in January] is a sophomore at UMass Amherst; and our youngest, Zoe [16 in November], is a sophomore at Wachusett Regional High School. With two of our kids away at college, our dogs, Wynnie [4 in November] and Walter [2 in February], are more than happy to take up the extra attention.

I am humbled by the opportunity to serve this district, grateful for the trust our community places in me, and incredibly proud of our students and staff. I look forward to continuing the work together and sharing more of what makes ARRSD such a special place.

Best Regards,

Matt
