Room 110

Welcome to a new school year in First Grade at RCS! My name is Cindy Drouin, and I am delighted to be your child’s teacher this year. First Grade is a time of new beginnings, of making friends, and of learning lots of new things each and every day.  Our days and weeks will be filled with many wonderful experiences and opportunities for learning and growing.

We will learn all about blending letters and sounds this year in making words. We will also be doing lots of writing activities too.  The children are always proud of their stories and books they create and are anxious to share their new skills with you.  Families can help at home by reading to and with their child daily, and encouraging them to write and draw. We will also be learning all about numbers to 100, building on important math concepts including sorting, counting, graphing, classifying, patterns, time, money, measurement, and addition and subtraction computation.

As soon as we are settled in, I’ll be sending information regarding our daily schedule, reading and math instructional programs, homework routine and First Grade educational goals and expectations.

You are welcome to visit our classroom at any time. I can always use an extra pair of hands and another smiling face when I am working with the children.  I am in need of helpers who can come on a regular schedule, whether weekly biweekly, or monthly-as well as helpers who are willing to do simple things for me at home, such as typing and stapling books together. Let me know if you are able to help in this way, and I will send all the necessary materials home with your child when help is needed.

Please feel free to call me at school, 978-249-2900 if you have any questions or comments.  I’m looking forward to a wonderful year with your child!
