Vivian Vargeletis

Elementary Literacy ELA Coach

I am a new face that you may have seen walking the halls of our elementary schools.  Let me take a few moments to introduce myself.

The 2013-2014 school year at ARRSD has been spent working in this district as a reading specialist in three elementary schools (Pleasant Street, Sanders Street, and Riverbend Elementary).  I originally started in this district in a part time capacity at Pleasant Street, alternating my days between Fitchburg State University as an adjunct instructor of literacy and Title I reading interventionist.  This past January presented an opportunity for me to join this talented team of educators in a full time position. Some students may have even had the opportunity to participate in an after school Wilson Reading Program that I was able to run this past January until June at Pleasant Street.  This full time position also gave me the opportunity to meet the students from Sanders Street and Riverbend Elementary.  My passion is helping learners (young and “old”; students and adults) achieve their goals and provide positive reading experiences which will build their future success.

It has always been my professional goal to work as a literacy coach and share my experience and knowledge of literacy with students, parents and staff.  I am so excited to begin another year of learning with your students.  My duties will continue to support the three elementary schools mentioned above and add Royalston Community School to the mix.    My previous educational and professional experience (i.e., reading specialist; literacy committee member; data analysis/interpreter; working with Title I reading and math students; MCAS math tutor; private tutoring for students in the Wilson Reading Program as a Level I certified teacher) has strengthened me to be the coach your students and their classroom teachers need.  I know the challenges that face our students and our elementary teachers, but with us all working as a team we can achieve great things.  I am anxiously awaiting the start of the new school year to help build a stronger community of learners. We would like to endorse for high quality learning.
