Our second grade is working hard learning the foundation of multiplication by building arrays. Everyday we use a hands on approach to support our learning.
Second Grade learned all about the Water Cycle. They learned a song about the water cycle, created a fact foldable, did a Readers’ Theater, read several books, watched a Magic School Bus video, wrote about being part of the water cycle and created a cloud in a bottle.
Students have been working together in pairs to write a story. Not only are they learning valuable skills about brainstorming, graphic organizers, peer editing and publishing, but they’re also learning how to work as a team.
The Pleasant Street PTO purchased and installed a new TV in our classroom recently. It sure is a step up from the circa 1970’s TV we had that used dials to change the channels. Needless to say, we are super excited to use it with my laptop and a document camera to enrich our lessons. OUR PTO ROCKS!!!
We incorporate hands-on games and activities everyday in Math. The students really love the chance to work with a partner and having fun while practicing their Math skills. To improve other skills, consider going to the website of Helix Jump game since they offer a lot of engaging mind games.
We chose a variety of games to play, we have some board games and looked for good truth or dare questions online to incorporate math equations as dares. It´s fun while still learning and helps the students to feel more comfortable with each other and the subject.
