Kindergarten Newsletter: October 25, 2013

October 25th, 2013

Hello! What a fun week! We learned all about the letter and sound that “Ff” makes. We also worked hard on making 5′s and loved learning how to graph with yummy goldfish! We introduced “at” words. We even began to add letters to the “at” word to make new words! Sat, bat, cat, mat, fat and pat! WOW! We learned that there are many different ways to make 5. Did you know that 5+0 and 0+5 = the same sum?! And that when the numbers switch like that it’s called “communitive properties”. Kiss your brain! You too, are so smart!

Special thanks to whomever keeps sneaking snacks into our classroom snack bin! So appreciated! Alex’s mom brought in cupcakes for us to share to celebrate Alex’s BIRTHDAY! Thank you to Keegan’s family for sending in baby wipes and stickers. Thank to Emma’s family for donating a book, helping with cutting things out at home, and for the delicious treat of jello jigglers! YUM! Evelyn’s mom thank you for the bag of goodies (that made me feel like a child at Christmas!). A HUGE thank you to ALL of you for being so supportive. I love the communication that we share and think its such an important part of your child’s educational journey!

Community Reading Day was a success! Mr. Willhite was our special classroom reader. The topic this year was Abe Lincoln. He enjoyed reading us a wonderful story abour Mr. Lincoln’s life. Thanks Mr. Willhite!

Please send in a “Book Bag” for your child to use in the classroom. This bag should be of medium size and able to hold 8-10 books. Please send that in sometime next week. Thank you!

Today we had a PARTY! Just because some days you just need to have one!! Mrs. Gauvin came in and helped us make our very own apple juice from our very own apple trees! YUM! We also ate popcorn and our yummy goldfish (donated by Mrs. Gauvin and Mrs. Robinson, thank you!)
