Kindergarten Newsletter

September 12, 2014

We are settling in nicely and I have to say I am so impressed with your children. They are a smart, kind, empathetic group. I am so excited for our journey together this year!!!!

Donations keep rolling in! I cannot thank you all enough for you VERY generous support!!!

We will be learning/reviewing a letter a week. On Mondays the children will be asked to bring in a small “Sound Bag” with the corresponding letter sound items in it. For example, if the letter of the week is “Bb”, your child could send in a small ball, a baby bottle, a bowl, etc. If unable to find these items you are always welcome to cut pictures out of magazines or draw and label a picture. The point is to emphasize the sound.

We will also be learning “Popcorn Words” weekly. Sometimes these will carry over for two weeks. Your child should be able to read these words without sounding them out. Please put the sheet sent home on a place such as your fridge! The more practice with these words the better readers they will become.  I will be sending home a weekly assessment form as well. Please sign and send it back on Mondays.
