Important things to know about Kindergarten…

LABEL, LABEL, LABEL!!! Please label all of your child’s belongings. When sending in any money (lunch, field trip etc.) put it in a sealed LABELED envelope stating your child’s name and purpose.

Rest Time Your child will have a rest time daily. Please send in a towel/blanket and pillow.  Please make sure these items are small enough to fit into a recyclable shopping bag.

Field Trips Please stop and see our secretary, Mrs. Lajoie to fill out a CORI form if you are interested in volunteering in the classroom or going on field trips.

Agendas Agendas will be coming in on September 20th.  I will be making a classroom creation for communication until that time.  Please CHECK, SIGN and RETURN agenda’s DAILY.

Daily Folders A daily folder will be given to you as well.  Please EMPTY this daily and send it back.  One side is for you to keep and one side is for anything coming back to school.

Birthdays!!! Birthdays are so important!! Feel free to send in a special snack on the day of or around your child’s birthday for the class to share during 10:00 snack time.

Lunch Box and Snack Please label EACH of these, as they will be in separate boxes.  Please do not send in too much as the snack period is short.

Toys Please keep toys at home.  Our classroom is supplied with many toys, we even have the best football sets for your children in our classroom. We don’t want anything lost or broken.  Later on I will be designating a “Share Day” for each child.

Student of the Week  I will be sending home an order list of student of the week.  I try to put your child as close to their birthday as possible.  During your child’s week feel free to come in and talk about your child, share a yummy snack or do something special with the class.

Communication The best way to reach me is via email.  My school email address is jwillhite@arrsd.org.  Please feel free to leave a message at school with Mrs. Lajoie.

Open Door Policy…please feel free to come into our classroom at anytime.  If you have any special talents that you’d like to share with us let me know.  We could always use an extra set of hands.

The First Day

I gave you a little wink and a smile

as you entered my room today.

I know how hard it is to leave

and know your child must stay.

You’ve been with him for five years

now and have been his loving guide.

But now, alas, the time has come

to leave him by my side.

Just know that as you drive away

and tears down your cheek may flow.

I’ll love him as I would my own

and help him learn and grow.

For as a parent, I do know

how quickly the years did pass.

And I know how hard it is

to take my child to my class.

So, take this note, hold it tight,

and cry those tears no more.

For I will love him and care for

him when you leave him at my door.
