A message from the Principal, November 2016

As the festivities of Halloween have now past, November 4th marks the close of the first quarter.   Remember to fall back and gain the extra hour of sleep this weekend.  The students and teachers are working very hard to complete grades and final assessments.  Report cards will be issued on Thursday, November 10th.   If you have any concerns with your student’s grades or you did not receive a report card, please contact the main office or the guidance office.

November is filled with Raider Pride activities.  First, we will honor our veterans with a special Veterans’ Day assembly on November 10th at 8:00am.  Spirit Week begins on Friday, November 18th, with Celebrity Dress–up Day and it will conclude with an Academic Awards Assembly.  The remaining dress-up days include Monday, November 21st: Holiday Day, Tuesday November 22: Disney Day, and Wednesday, November 23: Red and White day.  The class themes for the week are the seasons: Freshmen: Summer, Sophomores: Spring, Juniors: Winter and Seniors: Fall.  Thank you Student Council for sponsoring Spirit Week.

In addition, on November 18th, 19th and 20th, the AHS Drama Club will present Seussical at ACES beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.  A special matinee on Sunday, November 20th will begin at 2 p.m.  This special show is dedicated to all the elementary students at Royalston Community School and Athol Community School, and the young at heart. “Break-a-leg,” to the cast and crew of the fall play Seussical. Seussical-Theater Young Audiences is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI). All authorized performance materials are supplied by MTI www.MTIShows.com.

Raider Nation is very proud of all the fall student athletes.  Girls Varsity Volleyball will enter tournament play beginning on Monday, November 7th.  Boys Varsity Soccer will begin tournament play on Saturday, November 5th, at Palmer beginning at 6:00 pm. Girls Varsity Field Hockey and Girls Varsity Soccer are concluding successful seasons.   Finally, Boys Varsity Football will host Hoosac Valley on Friday, November 4thbeginning at 7:00 pm and they will conclude their season with the hosting of the Thanksgiving Day game against Mahar at 10:00 am.  Congratulations and thank you for supporting our community with pride and sportsmanship.
